My Favorite Video's Research

Looking at different videos is an important introduction before I begin creating a music video I have done some research as this can give me ideas for any work for A2 from previous work from famous videos. Every video is different due to the genre of the music and the artist themselves. Each of these videos I have personally chosen from my favorite music videos each of these videos show difference with the same genre of music. With each video I have done a brief description of why I like it and reasons why I think it's a good video.

Metallica With One

The introduction to this video is different to the other videos as it has two narrative points and more then two videos it begin with the old man talking to a boy about democracy before the music even begins, when it does begin it's only a shot of the band before the scene with the bomb digetic sound as well as the song itself with this the extra video reflects the song completely. The lighting reflects the story as the video is very dark the only light is a slight light across the band which make the band seen out casted.

The basic Mice-en-scene include the instruments, the clothing as casual everyday wear. The location is a fairly empty garage or somewhere similar filled with some metal bars and dirtied windows which bare very little light

The editing clips of the extended video as well as the band playing, using close ups on the band playing their instruments as well as long shots of them playing as well, the (high up shot) on the drum kit which I really liked. The way each video is a fading affect from one clip to the next and even including one member of the band faded but pulled across the extra video.

Evanescence With 'My Immortal'

I chose this video because it is beautifully made because not only does it fit in with the song itself but I personally love this video because of the negative or black and white affect really suits the song, with the sadness and the depressing feeling comes across with the song and also the video.

The colour of her white dress stands out of all the other white colour's which is important as the lead singer is the important person in the song and video. The softness of the filming works really well for example with the water being touched works really well as it foreshadows the milliscent and gentle nature of the song. Even though the video is in black and white the lighting is vacant as it is very bright, being a very modern video and done in a old fashioned form is shown as brightness and the crispness is shown.

The editing is very slow but using close ups and (gradually close ups) shows a more venerable state for each member of the band another shot which shows venerability is an (up shot) where the camera is above the act which is on top of a car, and a (look around shot) which is in a perspective shot as the children run around her,of the building and of the trees.

The mise-en-scene includes: a piano, and the bands later instruments, the suits, dresses and other clothing, the car.

Black Stone Cherry With 'Lonely Train'

This video by Black Stone Cherry is very similar to the other videos with the black and white affect but what makes this video different to the others as it uses a home camera affect which works well with the location as a bleak and rural area, the sound is almost all just the song apart from the begining which uses digetic sound of a running train. The different parts of the video is reflected by the song for example when the song is slowing down the scene shown is of a boat leaving the port.

The Mise-en-scene is limited in this video as it is based on a natural day to day atributes but the mise-en-scene does includes the instruments and the natural everyday clothing.

The editing is very quick and at the same motion as the song which is shadowing the sound of a train hence the name 'lonely train' some of the shots may have been shot on a train which may explain the motion. There are different camera angles used which picture the artist in different personalities for example using low angles to make the artist look taller is a way to make the artist look more fierce. The shots include random images of American citizens which is the after affectof the band themselves, The way the camera moves and tilts at a fast rate is very affective

The lighting is very limited however the lighting is a lot stronger on the band at play and in some areas which usaly does this before the other shots.

A2 begining to use different filming techniques (ABC song)

This introduction to A2 was a usefull way to bring us back to editing and using new techniques which will help to gather simple ideas including speed and sound.
